Our admissions staff, business office, and social workers are always willing to assist with questions regarding the confusing maize of elder care.
Social Security is a program that nearly all employed Americans contribute toward from the beginning of their working career. Once they reach the correct retirement age, they can receive these benefits in a monthly “pay check”. The monthly amount varies according to what is paid into the fund and how long a person is employed. Some seniors also have a retirement fund or pension that is paid out in addition to their Social Security benefits.
Medicare is an insurance program for those aged 65 and older. Medicare usually covers short term stays in a nursing facility and home health care. There are requirements for this coverage and limitations on the amount and length of stay for care provided. Medicare is not used for long term care or custodial care.
Medicaid is a state and federal program that pays for health services and nursing home care for those with low income, limited assets, or specific health conditions. Eligibility is determined by completing an application and upon review and approval by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. Homestead Rehabilitation Center’s experienced staff will assist with the application process and with determining when the application should be submitted.
Homestead Rehabilitation Center is a “preferred provider” for many insurance companies and will complete the prior authorizations and required reports needed to assure that the companies will pay for a patient’s stay at our facility. We also will accept Long Term Care Insurance and private pay.
